As most of the riders are keen to know about the main difference between the new and old version of pulsar 180cc, I have written this article. If you find any of the features are missing out, please report by your comments. I will be referring Pulsar 180cc UG3 as just UG3; latest Pulsar 180cc UG4 as just UG4.
- The new pulsar 180cc gets tank scoops borrowed from the successful pulsar 200cc
- UG3 came with just single piece handlebar as like 150cc version. UG4 model comes with clip on handles as it is in p220.
- UG4 borrows the box section swingarm from its elder sibling pulsar 220cc. Larger forks at the front and box section swingarm at the rear means more fun for hardcore bikers
- UG3 model came with single seat that was normal compare to any other bikes. UG4 has come up with split seat which extra comfort on ride.
- UG3 came with tubes. UG4 has come up with tubeless tyres; which is one of the good features to compete with other bikes in premium bikes segment. UG3 - Front tyre 2.75 x 17, Rear Tyre 100/90 X 17. UG4 - Front tyre 90/90 X 17, Rear tyre 120/80 X18
In UG4 (1345mm), wheelbase has increased compare to UG3 (1320mm).
- UG4 also gets a new rear sprocket and the O-ring chain
- UG4 comes with thicker front fork which is 37mm compare to UG3’s fork 32mm
- UG4 comes with only self start. No more kicks needed.
- Total kerb weight of UG4 is 147kg which is slightly high compare to UG3 model (143kg)
- Finally the great feature of p180 UG4 is that power of the engine which is figured 17.6 BHP

new pulsar releases also includes a bette engine technology-long lasting engines unlike the craps happening with earlier pulsars.this change is not shown anywhere.just ask bajaj themself.it is true.

power increased to17ps but the torque of UG4 reduced to 14.2rpm wer ug3's 15.2 at 6000rpm...
What about mileage??
I own Pulsar 180 UG3.. The fourth Bike in Pune.. I recently got engaged in a race between UG3 and UG4 and I crossed UG4 twice- thrice. Once at 111, next 116 and then 121Kmph... That too both pulsars carrying 2 guys... Next, I was on UG4 and that friend took my UG3 and I was not able to catch my own UG3.. It successfully clocked 122 Kmph ( On double ride, full throttle for about 40-50 seconds on Nashik-Pune Highway) but was not quick enough as compared to UG3. UG3 definitely has excellent pick up as compared to UG4 and almost similar top speeds (122 Km/Hr).
siting position is excellent like R15 in UG4,
Pickup of ug3 is awwesome.......and engine is more powerful than ug4.
my ug3 had crossed ug4 180 too many times. At high speeds, so not at all disapointed overall
